Douglas Lima Facts
- Douglas, with his younger brother Dhiego Lima, co-owns American Top Team – Team Lima, a mixed martial arts academy and fitness center located in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
- In May 2008, he was fighting for the vacant AFL (American Fight League) Welterweight Championship. The promotion had brought in a lowly opponent to show off Douglas’ skills but he had forced Douglas to submit, causing the promotion a lot of embarrassment.
- Before joining Bellator MMA in 2011, he had accumulated an impressive 18–4 win-loss record competing in promotions such as Wild Bill’s, ISCF, Border Warz, Xtreme Fight Series, Evolution, XFS, Reign in the Cage, RMBB & PCF, ROF, AFL, Southern Kentucky: Combat League, KOTC, Best of the Best, Sin City Fight Club, SportFight X-1, and MFC (Maximum Fighting Championship). During this time, he had won the 2010 REDLINE Middleweight Grand Prix and the MFC Welterweight Championship later that year. He had defended the latter title in 2011, just before signing up with Bellator MMA.
- As of September 2021, he had held the joint record for the most number of knockouts in Bellator MMA history (9), the joint record for the most number of wins in Bellator MMA welterweight division history (13), the joint record for the most number of stoppage victories in Bellator MMA welterweight division history (9), the joint record for the most number of knockout victories in Bellator MMA welterweight division history (8), and the joint record for the most number of fights in Bellator MMA welterweight division history (17).
